Barnard Hut

Located on Richmond Hill just south of Ajax Mountain (Aspen Mountain Ski Area) and standing at 11,480' the Barnard Hut was built in 1967 as a member of the Braun Huts System. It's worth noting that the Barnard Hut and other huts in the Braun system are located in areas that are known for avalanches with recurring avalanche cycles. The routes leading into the Branard Hut are unmarked and are not maintained. These huts are only for the experienced back country traveler. The Branard Hut is managed by the 10th Mountain Division Hut Association and all reservations should be made at huts.org
