We now offer half-day and full-day guided timbersled tours. Whether you are just starting out or a seasoned Timbersled rider, Cottonwood Pass has something for every skill level. The terrain offers a variety of groomed trails and deep powder fields.
Cottonwood Pass offers a lot of groomed trails which are ideal for beginner, intermediate, and advanced riders. For the advanced rider, Ptarmigan Lake offers a challenging ride with a final lake destination of over 12,000 ft and snow-capped mountain views for miles. For those attempting to reach Ptarmigan lake, we recommend a full-day tour.
We will meet at our shop in Buena Vista around 8:15am to sign waivers, finalize payment and damage deposit, go over damage costs, and get fitted to helmets and other rental gear. Then the guides will lead you to the trailhead as the renter follows in their own vehicle. At the trailhead the machines will be unloaded, a brief but very important safety talk with the guide will occur. The safety talk before any riding occurs will cover safe operation of the machine, avalanche dangers and how to handle the elements. Then it is time to ride!
Be prepared for extreme weather and elements. Many customers like to have a backpack to carry water, sunscreen, snacks, extra gear, extra set of gloves and goggles.
