For Rocky Mountain Adventure Rentals, it all started right here in Vail, Colorado. No longer in our garage, you can find our Vail location along the historic main street in downtown Minturn, just 10 minutes from downtown Vail, Colorado. From here, you can rent every vehicle in our fleet including Timbersleds, snowmobiles, paddle boards, side-by-sides, and one wheels. All rentals from our Vail/Minturn location are “Do-it-Yourself” meaning that you drive off in your rental for an unguided trip or with the vehicles in tow. The Forest Service does not allow guided tours in this area.

If you are looking for easy access to Vail Pass without the need for trailing, please visit us at our Red Cliff Location which is just 15 minutes up the road from our shop in Minturn. If a guided tour is what you are after, please visit us in Buena Vista, Colorado.

What is meant by "Do it Yourself" Rentals?

“Do-it-yourself” or “Rent-your-own” implies that you are required to trailer the vehicles to your destination. There is no direct trail access out of our Vail / Minturn location for Snowmobiles, Timbersleds, or side-by-side RZRs. For DIY rentals, we recommend at least 48 hours advanced notice to guarantee a trailer for your rental. If you are looking for Guided tours or just direct trail access, please visit our Buena Vista and Red Cliff locations.

Do it Yourself Rentals are great for those who already know the area and have their favorite places picked out or for those who are heading out to ride with friends. Our Minturn Location is also a great spot to pick up paddle board rentals for the day.

When do the trails near Vail open for the summer?

Snow pack and animal migration patterns have a direct impact on summer trail openings. The Forest Service opens the gates on Vail Pass after June 1st to allow for animal migration but the gate opening can be delayed even longer due to snow depth. Most trails down valley are open by mid-May, but snow pack can cause delays there as well. For early season reservations, please call the shop for current conditions. For trail sustainability purposes, we do not allow machines on muddy trails caused by snow melt.
