Where is Vail, Colorado?
The town of Vail is about 90 minutes west of Denver in good weather and in good traffic and is located right along the I-70 corridor. Vail is considered by locals to be the ideal basecamp location in Colorado due to its proximity and easy access to neighboring resort towns such as Aspen, Glenwood Springs, Steamboat Springs, and Breckenridge. The RMAR shop in Vail is just 5 minutes west of the town and is located in the commercial district of Eagle-Vail.
Why are your Vail Prices cheaper?
Our prices for Timbersleds, Snowmobiles, and RZRs are cheaper than our other locations because you are required to trailer the vehicles to your destination. There is no direct trail access out of our Vail location.
What does it mean to be “Do-it-yourself” or “Rent-Your-Own?”
“Do-it-yourself” or “Rent-your-own” implies that you are required to trailer the vehicles to your destination. There is no direct trail access out of our Vail location for Snowmobiles, Timbersleds, and RZR’s. If you are looking for Guided and UnGuided tours or just direct trail access, please visit our Buena Vista and Red Cliff locations.
Do you offer OneWheels in Vail?
As of 2020, we no longer offer OneWheels in Vail. All of our OneWheel rentals are out of our Buena Vista location. If you would like to rent a OneWheel in Vail, you can call in advance and we will schedule a delivery.
When do the trails near Vail open for the summer?
Snow pack and animal migration patterns have a direct affect on summer trail openings. The gates on Vail Pass do not open until after June 1st due to animal migration but can be delayed even longer due to snow depth. Most trails down valley are open by mid-may but again, snow pack can cause delays. For early season reservations, please call the shop for current conditions. For trail sustainability purposes, we do not allow machines on muddy trails caused by snow melt.
What to do in Vail
While Vail itself is known for its world-class skiing, The Vail Valley (Eagle County) has something for everyone. The local town of Minturn, just minutes west of Vail is steeped in railroad and mining history, offering local artisan shopping, and unique eateries with many local summer and winter recreation areas. Head a little farther west and you can visit Beaver Creek Village for 5-star dining, a show at the Vilar Performing Arts Center, or mountain biking through miles of trails. And if you continue west to Eagle and Dotsero, you will find hundreds of miles of OHV and ATV trails. Past Dotsero you'll head into the famous Glenwood Canyon and end up in Glenwood Springs where there are two hot springs for your choosing.
Whether you’re looking to Paddleboard the Colorado River, take a Slingshot for a cruise to the hot springs or get fresh tracks on a snowmobile, RMAR has the right toys for any adventure in and around Vail.
